Get all segments of curve with length, arc length and rotation

For tube bending purposes I’m trying to get data on every segment of a curve (a filleted polyline).
What I need are the length of the segment (straight and curved), the bending angle of the arc segments and the rotation between bends.

I’ve attached my grasshopper sketch. So far I’m getting the lengths and angles of each bend, but what would be the best way to get the rotation between the bends? As in “rotate tube for 30 deg clockwise before bending next angle x in distance y”?

No, this YouTrack item is unchanged and still on the Future list.

How to approximately calculate behavior of solid element in Karamba3D

$

Hi guys, I’m new here. I’m working on my master thesis project which involves investigating optimal support. In my case, the supported object is not shell or beam designed but the volumetric sculpture under gravity. However, I saw an answer that karamba3d doesn’t have solid element but it can approximately calculate with existing elements. How could? Is it the way like changing edges of volumetric mesh to the beam?

Loading - export_IGES.rhp - not solved

Hi - from the YouTrack item:

The solution is to delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\McNeel\Rhinoceros\6.0\Plug-ins folder. Knowing that will also delete any per-user plug-in registrations for 3rd party plug-ins, and you’ll need to reload them by hand.
Or you can delete the registry entry for just this plugin.

GH.Python Moving Breps with RhinoCommon returns Booleans, not geometries

Hi Forum,

Trying to develop my first GH Python Script and hitting a bit of a learning curve.
Watched all the Lynda training a couple of times but struggling to make my own thing work.

The first step of my script is to move inputted Breps.
For the next steps in my script, I need this to be a loop and use RhinoCommon (not RhinoScriptSyntax)
This is what I wrote this far:

# Move up Test
# geo is a bunch of spheres inputted in the component

movedGeo = []

for i in geo:

    vec = rg.Transform.Translation(0,0,100)
    x = i.Transform(vec)
    movedGeo.append(x)

a = movedGeo

For some reason, this outputs a list of Booleans, all true, instead of the moved up Breps and I dont understand why.

Could someone explain this and tell me how to get my moved up Breps instead ?

(Ultimately my script would jiggle a bunch of breps to overcome failing boolean unions but thats as story for another time)

Cheers,

Having recently got our hands on a 3DTEK HeavyMill I heartily agree. F360 is way top-heavy…

yes, I agree, it’s cumbersome to say the least. Posted that just in case you deliberately want to change these colors.
Personally I’m perfectly happy with how Rhino looks. Maybe that is because I have calibrated my screen for print output which means the whites don’t act like spotlights in my face.

This is why I think all first time posters should somehow be directed to that effective question asking article before being allowed to hit submit on their first post. Would save a lot of time and people’s expectations. I also wouldn’t get called rude for merely posting a helpful link, however some people just can’t be helped or could care less about being helped and care more about someone else doing their work :grinning:

It’s now 2 days later, 2 attempts at that sketch have been made, and no further information has been provided. No one knows if they are close or not, just take shots in the dark I guess :man_shrugging:

I agree about Stack Overflow but this forum is nothing like that. When people have well thought out questions they get good answers here. And when they don’t have well thought out questions they are typically pushed in the right direction to better develop the question.

Extract Column Axis/Column orientation

It is connected to Column topic so I will continue in this thread.

When placing for example families, we can specify their orientation because we have Plane input. There is no such thing if we place column so we can’t do it.
